Did anyone actually care about MK8's battle mode?

This isn't meant to start anything, but to be honest, I personally could care less about the battle mode in the series in general. It never really appealed to me in any of the Mario Kart games. This is mostly because I pretty much play Mario Kart by myself. Now, just to clear myself up from any potential flaming and the like, this isn't me saying that battle mode doesn't matter. It's just, I never cared about it in the series in general, so seeing that the battle mode is just the same courses you raced on didn't really excite or bother me, because I didn't care. Like, I probably will be playing Battle Mode online, but I doubt I would really get into it, because I was never into the mode to begin with. I buy Mario Kart for the cool courses and high-speed, crazy action that is always promised in Mario Kart games since the beginning of the series, so with Battle Mode, I'm like "Well, okay, that's cool, I guess."
