The Monster tires are a set of wheels in the Mario Kart series that first appear in Mario Kart 7 as default wheel vehicle parts. They also appear in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They are basically large dark blue wheels, and they normally boost Weight and Traction/Off-Road.

Description[]

The Monster tires, as the name states, are huge wheels with a dark blue tint that normally go over the vehicle's body. They feature a large tire with a rim. In Mario Kart 7, the tires have a yellow rim which has been pushed way from the tire. This rim has six holes in a hexagonal pattern and the middle of the rim feature some small circles.

In later appearances, including Mario Kart 8, the tires still have a blue tint, but it is a more purple-ish color, and the tires bear a small Mario Kart logo on them. Also, the rim is now silver and it's much smaller.

History[]

Mario Kart 7[]

The Monster tires makes its first appearance as a vehicle part in Mario Kart 7. In the game, the design of the tires is almost exactly the same as the tires on the Tiny Titan from Mario Kart Wii. They also have a red counterpart, known as the Red Monster Tires.

They offer the highest Weight boost, the lowest Acceleration boost, and are tied with the Red Monster tires for the best Off-Road boost. They're also tied with the Red Monster tires, the Slick tires, and the Gold Tires, for the lowest handling boost. For its hidden stats, the tires have troubling Sea Speed, Air Speed and Stability.

Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe)[]

The Monster tires return in Mario Kart 8, with a different appearance from the previous installment, now having the series logo printed on them. They have another counterpart just like in Mario Kart 7, but they are the Hot Monster tires, which are orange instead. These wheels have the same stats as the regular Monster tires.

These tires boost Weight and Traction, but hinder Acceleration and Handling (on a side note, these tires have the lowest Handling out of all wheels the game). In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, their stats are basically the same, apart from a slightly reduced Traction. In both games, they reduce Mini-Turbo.

CPU-controlled heavyweights with a large body frame (except Link) will often use these tires while riding the Standard Kart or Standard Bike, but the middleweights, along with the metal characters, and a few lightweights, may also use them while riding the Standard ATV. Also, Dry Bones uses them with the Standard Kart and Bowser uses them with the Circuit Special.
