The Golden Banana (ゴールデンバナナ) is a prized, collectable Item originally appearing in Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. They were invaluable for their use of opening new worlds. Since then, they've made a return in the newer Donkey Kong Country games.

In addition to the Donkey Kong franchise, this Item also makes an appearance in the Mario Kart series as the Gold Banana (ゴールドバナナ). This variant of the iconic Banana Peel may look very similar to its less-lustrous counterpart, but it actually has added slip damage. It has so far only been in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX as an unlockable Item.

Usage[]

Offense[]

Gold Banana (Fire Mario) (2)

Fire Mario armed with expensive produce, the Gold Banana.

There isn't much to using a Gold Banana. In fact, if you've ever used a regular Banana, it's almost exactly the same. The only difference is that in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, you can only place them behind you and can't drag them. So, simply press the button to deploy the gilded Banana on the track. It won't be long before someone slips on it and takes a VERY hard fall.

Defense[]

Although they can't be dragged, you can still try timing a drop correctly to block an incoming Item. It's hard, but it can be accomplished with practice.

Protection[]

On the receiving end, Gold Bananas aren't much of a problem at all, and they are just about as easy to dodge as a regular Banana. Just keep an eye out for them on the track, don't tailgate a racer who's armed with one, and use an invincibility Item if you are ever in the scenario of slipping on one.

Because gold and regular yellow are to very similar colors, be on the lookout for this Gold Banana. It's a slightly darker tint and glistens a bit. If there's ever a situation where there's two Bananas in front of you, but one is golden, of course try to dodge both, but if you can't take the regular Banana... the slipping is much less harmful.

Trivia![]

Triple Gold Banana

3 Gold Bananas.

  • As with the regular Banana Peel, Triple Gold Bananas is an unlockable variant of the singular Gold Banana.
  • In Donkey Kong 64, Golden Bananas were marked with an N64 logo, while the giant Golden Banana (which could be obtained from Tiny Kong) had a Rareware logo on it (the company that made the game).
