MK8 Screaming Pillar

Baby Luigi and his brother flying past a towering Giant Pillar.

A Giant Pillars is a colossal stone statue enemy from the Donkey Kong Country series. As members of the Tiki Tak Tribe, these larger-than-life pillars are a sub-species of the similar looking Screaming Pillars, but they are noticeably bigger and have a lower-pitched scream.

Aside from being DK and Diddy Kong's enemy, they also can be seen antagonizing racers in 3DS DK Jungle in the two latest Mario Kart games, Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Description[]

After passing over the Glider Pad in 3DS DK Jungle, players enter a large valley filled with water and three huge Giant Pillars. These huge totems are adorned with feathers, and when their mouth starts to shake, its ill-advised to fly near them... they'll let out a huge howl, and the wind power itself can easily blow a racer off course or into another pillar, making them lose precious time.

Trivia![]

  • Mario Kart 7's original version of DK Jungle featured the smaller Screaming Pillars, but Mario Kart 8 replaced them with Giant Pillars.
    • Aside from cosmetic appearance, however, the Giant Pillars act in almost the same exact way as their tinier Screaming Pillars.
  • Giant Pillars are also known for being indestructible in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
