The Race Timer shows how much time the driver has raced around the course. It is always located at the top right hand corner of the game screen. The design and the value of the timer changes as the series progresses. When the signal light turns green, the timer will start. Once a player crosses the finish line after a lap around the course, then it becomes the total time for that lap. If the race ends on the final lap, the timer will stop. This becomes the total time for the track. Starting in Mario Kart 7, the race timer will only appear in Time Trial mode.
