Starman (Mario Kart Wii) This article is not to be confused with the course, D.K.'s Jungle Parkway. Starman (Mario Kart Wii)

DK Jungle is the first track of the Special Cup in Mario Kart 7. The course is based on the Donkey Kong series, with some elements making an appearance in this course, including Tiki Goons, Screaming Pillars, and also DK's House.

DK Jungle makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the fourth and last track of the Banana Cup.

DK Jungle

A small overview of the course.

The track passes through a jungle, where some DK Barrels appear. After a right turn followed by a left, racers approach a split section has has a large tree in the middle, has has large roots stuck out from each side that allow tricks to be performed on them. As the two paths merge a Dash Panel follows, taking racers out of the jungle and bouncing on a large, red flower to land on a path that curves left and slowly decreases in elevation, where a large lake and waterfalls can be seen. This turn goes past DK's House appear there and some moving Tiki Goon obstacles. A long wooden bridge leads to a second jungle, similar to the first with Frogoons and mud patches. This section curves right, then left and then another right, before another Dash Panel leads to two jumps with Dash Panels at the end that goes across a chasm. The jumps send racers the Golden Temple.

As racers enter the temple a right turn follows, with a left u-turn shortly after. The turns lead to an incline with a Dash Panel at the end, before a split path with the Golden Banana in the middle. A short Glide Panel takes races gliding out of the temple and over another lake which can be traversed in safely. This lake features several Screaming Pillars that scream once in a while, shooting out air to blow back hang-gliding racers. Finally, racers reach a left turn that leads to a spilt path with a trick ramp on each side, before rejoining the first jungle and reaching the Finish Line.

Rosalina about to start the race.

DK Jungle returns as the final course in the Banana Cup in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In this rendition of the course, some objects are changed and replaced; the entrance to the Golden Temple is now slanted upward and acts like an anti-gravity section, and the mud near the beginning of the track is absent.

MK8DX - 3DS DK Jungle Temple

The anti-gravity section in the temple.

The layout remains the same, except for the anti-gravity section. The course has updated graphics and lighting. Giant Pillars replace Screaming Pillars and they now exhale smokes when they are shouting, and Tiki Goons have had their movement speed severely reduced.

Shortcuts[]

  • It is possible to ride up the fallen pillar before leaving the jungle to get to the Golden Temple through gliding. for all games
  • The player can use a short route by making a sharp left turn near the end of the track. for all games

Trivia![]

  • This track and SNES Donut Plains 3 are the only tracks that have been in both the Special and Banana Cup as a retro track, most likely because of their easiness in this game. Coincidentally, both take place in the Banana Cup in the same game, Mario Kart 8 (and its Nintendo Switch port.
  • The Mario Kart 8 remake of this track has the golden banana statue spinning, as opposed to the simple, non-moving banana statue in Mario Kart 7.
  • In Mario Kart 8, DK Jungle is the only retro track that re-uses its original track music.
  • In Mario Kart 7, the short route at the end of the track doesn't have a gap.
  • This is the only course from Mario Kart 7's Special Cup to not reappear in Mario Kart Tour.
