Bikes can be used by everyone in Mario Kart Wii. Initially, on 100cc, bikes are the only vehicles allowed.

Bikes are a new element in Mario Kart Wii and are an alternate means of driving to Karts. Although they feature the same basic attributes, but there are differences. Bikes typically weigh less than karts; they are able to perform wheelies to boost one's speed for about four seconds (albeit at the cost of a reduced turning ability) but can be cancelled earlier by hopping or making a sharp turn; and bikes are rendered incapable of performing Super Mini-Turbos, a stronger type of Mini-Turbo only karts can perform. Similiar to karts, bikes are classified by weight. They're recommended for Time Trials because they have superior turning and their ability to conduct wheelies. The following is a list of all of the bikes in Mario Kart Wii. They appear in all weight classes. Bikes were removed in Mario Kart 7, but reappeared in Mario Kart 8 as vehicle customization parts, however, they lost their abilities to do wheelies (likely due to complaints that they made the bikes overpowered); to compensate, bikes can now perform Super Mini-Turbos. Note that rocket starts and Mushrooms will cause bikes to do wheelies; this is only a visual effect that has zero effect on gameplay.
